Chesterton: early deeds

Description

Grant by Robert, son of William of Chesterton to John, son of William de Legha, for homage and service, two virgates of land with appurtenances in little Chesterton, part of four virgates which were previously granted to the said William for a term; also a croft at Hachiate and three and a half selions to make a house. To hold of grantor and heirs in fee and heredity, paying twelve pence annually at two terms of Michaelmas and Lady Day, and 6d in lieu of all services, excepting only foreign service for the king Warranty clause Witnesses: Robert Macro, Robert son of Odo, Henry of Cubbeneia, John of Lodbroke ('Lotbroc'), Alan of Merston, Alan the clerk, Richard Cedric, Robert le [?Fraunceis], Geoffrey of Kingston, Simon of St Maur, Nicholas the clerk.
