Chesterton: early deeds

Description

Grant by Legh, with the consent and assent of Matilda his wife, to John Porter of 'abendan', his heirs and assigns, for homage and service, of one messuage with croft belonging, which messuage lies between the land of Wiliam Arden and John King. Also half a virgate of land which the said John formerly held of grantors. To hold of grantor and heirs, paying annaully in lieu of all services a pound of white pepper, and has paid for this grant 100 silver shillings. Witnesses: Jordan of Chesterton, Nicholas le venor of [ ] John Broc, John son of Simon, William Seymour (de Seymor), Michael his brother, James, Richard Kent, Robert the clerk.
