Chesterton: early deeds

Description

Grant by Roger Legh, with the assent and consent of Matilda his wife to John Porter of Abendon, for homage and service, of a croft and messuage which lie beside the land of [ms damaged] Arden, with 16 acres ---- in Kingston ('kinkeston'), and all that land which a certain John King held in villeinage [?together with] said John King his family and goods. To hold to said John Porter, heirs and assigns, paying annually [ms damaged] in lieu of suits and service saving foreign service for the king. For which grant John has paid fifteen silver marks.
