Chesterton: early deeds


Grant by Hugh Legh (de Loges) of Chesterton to Robert, son of Gilbert Harper, of two and a half acres of land, with appurtenances lying scattered in the fields of Chesterton viz: half an acre in the field towards Io ----ter between land of Richard Harper on one side and land of [?Giles] on the other, extending towards 'Wolfhogis'; half an acre lying on Pessehul between land of William Jobber and of the wife of William Peion [?Peyto]; half an acre lying in the field toward 'La grave' between the land of Robert of Coventry and John Alen and extending towards the little mere above Bremsdon (le letel mere de super bremmesdon); one rood lying beside le holwey; one rood lying between land of Peter Cady and John Alen and extending towards 'le longemere'; half an acre on 'stilbhul' between land of John Thatche and Thomas Cady, extending towards 'Waterfornis'. To have and hold the said lands of the grantor and his heirs, paying annually a rent of a halfpenny at Easter in lieu of all secular services and suits of court.
