Chesterton: early deeds

Description

Grant by way of marriage settlement from William, son of Robert of Little Chesterton to John, son of Simon of Kingston and Matilda, daughter of William, wife of John, for homage and service, of one virgate of land in Little Chesterton, namely half a virgate and messuage with appurtenances, which Geoffrey Paitel (?) holds from grantor, and that other half virgate which Simon son of Peter holds at farm for eight years, except half an acre of seven selions in Holbrook, which grantor retains. In exchange, and to augment the house place, has given lands which lie between lands of John Colling and the brook. Paying annually 6d at two usual terms, in lieu of civil services. Warranty clause.
