Burton Dassett: early deeds, Knightcote, a grant

Description

Grant by Roger Baret of Knightcote ('Knitecot') to William, son of John, son of Henry of Knightcote, with Margery, grantors' daughter, and their lawful heirs in marriage of eight acres of arable land in the fields of Knightcote, with part of a meadow lying next to the portion of Richard son of Ralph of Northend, with pasture for one beast. Viz: four acres in one field and four in the other.

In the western field:
half an acre, called le forseter sub croft, lies between land of Richard, son of Ralph of Sudeley,
half an acre lies on the Merston road beside land of the said Richard son of Ralph;
half an acre in toycholeucbroc lying beside the land of John Thomas;
half an acre in the redelonde lying beside the land of William son of John;
half an acre at 'yesmalewodewey lying berside land of Adam Cyssore;
half an acre on westoldelond beside land of Henry son of Robert;
a rood outside the croft and lying beside land of Robert Hunter (venatoris) of Northend;
a rood in coylestbroc, with watercourse, lying next land of Robert Hunter;
half an acre at the Honbinde beside the land of Simon Knightcote.

In the eastern field:
half an acre at hennemersh beside the land of Richard son of Ralph;
half an acre in [cokm----] lying beside land of Thomas Goirmund;
half an acre between 'le voves' lying beside land of Robert Hunter;
half an acre on Donstal lying beside land of Richard son of Ralph;
half an acre in comehemebroc, with watercourse, lying beside land of Richard son of Ralph;
half an acre on brerehull lying beside land of Richard son of Ralph;
half an acre lying on le bo--- lying besdie land of Adam Cyssor;
half an acre --- garden, lying beside land of William Vele of Northend;

To hold of the grantor and his heirs, paying 4d per annum in lieu of all services, excepting only foreign service for the king. If they die without heirs, to revert to grantor and heirs.
