Lease and Release: Rowington

Description

Release dated 10th. April 1755 by William Devey of Wolverhampton, toymaker (Older brother and heir to Robert Devey late of Lapley in the County of Stafford, brassfounder deceased) and Ann, his wife to George Hand and his heirs of the Close of the Cathedral Church of Lichfield, gentleman, of a toft whereon a cottage formerly stood and a close Leasowe or pasture of freehold adjoining the said toft called Moore Croft containing 7 acres, with appurtenances which toft and close lay between the copyhold land of the said William Devey on the North and West sides thereof and Knights Lane leading from Rowington Church to Shrewley Heath on the South thereof and were theretofore in the tenure of Joseph Dudglas and then of John Stanley in consideration of £1245 paid by the said George Hand. Signed: William Devey and Ann Devey. Armorial seal of red wax. Witnesses: Christopher Wright, John Harris, Jonas Hassell and Benjamin Scott. Lease dated 9th. April 1755 by William Devey to George Hand of the same premises for one year. Signed: William Devey. Sealed as before. Witnesses: Christopher Wright and John Harris
