Lease and Release: Bell Inn, Shottery
Description
Conveyance by Lease and Release, the Release dated the 9th May 1728 from Elianor Barber of Shottery, widow of John Barber late of Shottery, yeoman deceased and John Barber of Shottery, yeoman (son and heir of John Barber deceased and the said Elianor, his wife) and Martha wife of the said John Barber, junior to John Cotterell of Shottery, gentleman and his heirs for ever of a messuage in Shottery (called the Bell Inn) with appurtenances in consideration of £195 paid by John Cotterell. Signed by the mark of Elianor Barber. Seals of red wax. Witnesses: Nathaniel Mason, Charles James and Bartholomew Mason. Lease from the said Elianor Barber and John Barber to John Cotterell of the same premises for one year. Signed by the mark of Elianor Barber, and John Barber. Sealed and witnessed as before. Receipt for £4-16-0 by Bart. Mason (for expenses of conveyance).
