Bond to pay Legacies: Halford

Description

Bond from William Knibb of Halford, wheelwright, William Quarrell of Halford, labourer, and John Whatcoat of Halford, labourer, to Elizabeth Knibb of Stratford-on-Avon, widow, in the penal sum of £24, the condition of that obligation being that : whereas Thomas Knibb of Halford, deceased, made his Will as described in ER3/2370-2371 and bequeathed to his grand-daughters, Hester Whatcoat and Sarah, daughter of Sarah Quarrell, £6 apiece, and whereas the said grand-daughters of Thomas Knibb were then both under the age of 21 years, (i.e. the said Hester Whatcoat of the age of eleven years and the said Sarah daughter of Sarah Quarrell, of the age of eleven years); and whereas the above-named Elizabeth Knibb had at the request of the said William Knibb, William Quarrell and John Whatcoat paid to them the sum of £12 for the two several legacies to be paid to the said children at their several ages of 21 years with interest; if now the said William Knibb, William Quarrell and John Whatcoat should pay the said legacies to the said children at their respective ages of 21 years, the said obligation shall be null and void.
