Admin History

Walker Barnard started business as an auctioneer in Ely Street in the late nineteenth century, before moving to Sheep Street in 1907. From 1926 until 1958 the business was Walker Barnard Son, despite Walker Barnard having died in 1946. By 1959 the firm had become Walker Barnard Dobson, the partners being named in 1966 as D. A. Dobson, L.G. Dobson and J. A. Wilkes. A year later they had amalgamated with another local firm, H. Donald Dixon Co., to become Donald Dixon Barnard and Dobson. In 1973 a further amalgamation resulted in Dixon Dobson and Carver, and is now Dixons.
