Copy of Court Roll re Surrender of land: Newnham in Aston Cantlow

Copy of Court Roll of the Court Baron of the most noble George Bergevenny held in the presence of Henry Toye Steward whereby it was witnessed that Clement Edkins one of the customary tenants of the Manor surrendered to the Steward certain parcels of land in the fields of Bearly within or pertaining to the Manor of Aston Cantlow, containing 12 acres together with 6 selions called Ridges of land lying opposite to Aston Hill in the fields of Newnham with all appurtenances, to the intent that they should be re-granted to Thomas Edkins (eldest son of the aforesaid Clement) and his heirs according to the custom of the Manor. To which Thomas Edkins seisin was granted by the Steward to hold the said premises at an annual rent of 4/- and a heriot according to custom, he the said Thomas Edkins giving to the Lord as a Fine for Admission £4-10-0 and did fealty and was admitted thereto as tenant.
