Description

Lease, Release and Counterpart being a Sale by Francis Keyte of Hidcott, Glos., esquire and Chambers Slaughter of Over Slaughter, Glos., gentleman to Thomas Savage of Broadway, Worcs., gentleman, for the sum of £650 and 5/- of that close inclosed ground or meadow called Sugars meadow, closes inclosed grounds called Pooles all which then or late were in the possession of Winchester Draper, gentleman, a tenement or cottage with the gardens, orchards etc. in the possession of John Muckly, labourer also the orchard called the Pooles Banke adjoining the said cottage, a close called the Church Close now or late in the occupation of Moses Snarling alias Rawlings, a close called the Ledburryes in the possession of William Paine, a close called the Parsonage with the cottage thereon standing, a close formerly bought of William Lampett now in the possession of Jane Taylor, widow, all tithes or tenths of corn and grain and all other tithes or tenths issuing out of the said premises all which said premises are in the Parish of Broadway, Worcs. All which premises lands granted the said Thomas Savage is now in full possession of by force and virtue of a Bargain and Sale made to him by the said Francis Keyt and Chambers Slaughter for a term of 1 year commencing Michaelmas Day last past before the date hereof. Chambers Slaughter declares he has done nothing whereby the said premises may be impeached or incumbered except than a Mortgage to be made to Finetta Finett, one of the daughters of Sir John Finett, knight deceased upon the close called the Parsonage and the close called Lampetts Close with the 2 cottages upon them for 1000 years as appears by indenture made by the said Francis Keyt and Chambers Slaughter and the said Finetta Finett dated 25th November 1679 [ER3/3318] nevertheless upon condition to become void upon payment of £700 with interest upon days and times and in such manner as is therein mentioned and one Indenture of Assignment made by the said Finetta Finett by consent of the said Francis Keyt and Walter Savage of Broadway esquire in trust for the said Thomas Savage and to the intent to attend the inheritance thereof or of so much of the premises hereby granted or mentioned to be granted as were devised by the said Mortgage. Francis Keyt and Chambers Slaughter undertake to defend the said Thomas Savage against all claims. Signed: Francis Keyte - seal and Chambers Slaughter - seal.
