Counterpart Lease by Henry Harvey Aston of Aston, Cheshire, esquire to John Clay of Nuneaton, yeoman, of several closes in Nuneaton called the Countess's Meadow in two parts and the Copper Mine Close containing 29 acres, 1 rood and 30 perches; the Meadow and Smith's Close parcel of Longlow's Tenement containing 10 acres: a small plot containing three quarters of an acre theretofore part of Countess's Meadow and also a close theretofore in the occupation of Mrs. Hanbury lying between Smith's Close and the canal, also seven closes in Nuneaton containing 25a-0r-35p theretofore in the occupation of John Green brickmaker; the whole of which above mentioned premises were then in the occupation of John Clay excepting to the Landlord all timber minerals and sporting rights for a term of 21 years from 2nd February 1785 at a yearly rent of £107.
