Recalls his early academic career; his work in Coventry at the Food Control Office during World War II; his appointment as Director of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in 1945; the work of the Trust in the 1940s and 1950s the reorganization; the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre library; Sir Archibald Flower Sir Fordham Flower; the purchase and restoration of Hall's Croft, 1949-1951; Festival of Britain celebrations in Stratford-upon-Avon; the post-war revival of the Birthday Celebrations, theatre productions; his governorship of King Edward VI School, Stratford-upon-Avon.
