Grant of land: Alcester

Description

Grant by Matilda, daughter of Richard de Popihull to John, son of John Pycum of Piplinton, clerk for his service of all those lands, service and rents which Richard de Popihull, father of the Grantor gave to her in the territory of Alincestre [Alcester] with all its liberties and profits namely:- that parcel of land which lay next the King's Highway towards Le Abbeye Strete between the land formerly belonging to William Pynnet and the land formerly belonging to Ralph Faucer, one acre which lay next the Fyflondes, one acre called Penny Acre, half an acre near Northernegut, half an acre above the same culture next the land of William Brun, three half acres above the same culture in three different places next the land of James, son of Walter and extending as far as Kyngesbroke and five selions extending from Hurstway as far as Kyngesbroke and lay next the land of the Abbot of Alcincestre, half an acre lay next the land of William Peracle, one acre above the Hurstwaye next the land of the aforesaid James and extending to the headland formerly belonging to Robert Brudly, four seliones towards Les Buttes next the land of the said James and one half acre of meadow in Hamemeadowe which lay next the meadow formerly of William Raggeheye. And the grantor gave also to the said John all the services and rents in any other manner can arise from the tenement which John le Marescal formerly held of the aforesaid Richard the grantor's father, which lay opposite to the messuage formerly belonging to Reginald de Cruce, with all its appurtenances and all services and rents which in or to the grantor's heirs could arise out of the tenement which Roger Assing formerly held of the aforesaid Richard the grantor's father in the aforesaid town, which lay near to Colebrok. And she gave to the said John all services rents with appurtenances which the grantor formerly bought from Alice the grantor's sister arising from the tenement which John Tankard sometime held in the same town in a place which is called Blackefeld which lay next the land which Thomas Agate sometime held to hold the said premises of the grantor and her heirs and assigns for ever paying annually one pair of white gloves at Easter and to Rose, the grantor's sister two shillings at the two terms of the year for all services etc. Witnesses: William de Stoks [Maxstoke] then Bailiff of Alcester, William de Stoks [Maxstoke], Nicholas Catel, Thomas le Barelser, William Brun, John de Popihull, John de Rowell clerk and others.
