Deed Poll under the hand and seal of Anthony Eyre of Okeley, Shropshire, esquire whereby, after reciting that by an Indenture dated the 28th January 1658 Christopher Hales theretofore of Coventry, esquire, deceased had demised to George Purefoy, esquire and Sir John Barnard, knight (then John Barnard esquire) certain inclosed grounds and woods called Whitmore Grounds in Coventry aforesaid for a term of 500 years from the death of the said Christopher Hales, upon trust for raising £1000 apiece for the Portions of Christopher and George Hales (younger sons of the said Christopher Hales) and 2000 marks apiece for the Portions of Anne and Jane, daughters of the said Christopher Hales the father, and upon further trust for the maintenance of the said Christopher Hales junior, George Hales, Anne and Jane Hales until the said portions should become payable, according as the said Trustees and Jane, wife of Christopher Hales, senior or the major part of them, should think fit, the said term to determine after the performance of the said trusts. And after further reciting that Sir John Hales, baronet (eldest son and heir of the said Christopher Hales Senior), after the death of his said father and in consideration of the Surrender to him of the said term of 500 years, demised to the said Sir John Barnard, James Hales and Knightley Purefoy, esquire, a capital messuage called the White Fryers with a parcel of pasture ground lying below the Orchard belonging to the said messuage with other hereditaments in Coventry for a term of 99 years then ensuing at a peppercorn rent upon the like trusts of the before recited Indentures of Lease which then remained un-performed. And after further reciting that by an indenture dated the 30th September 1679 the said Knightley Purefoy and James Hales assigned to Nicholas Smith, esquire the residue of the said term of 99 years in the said premises in Coventry, except Dalbyes Leasows and the barn thereon erected, upon the trusts before recited, and after reciting that by an indenture dated the 22nd December 1679, the said Nicholas Smythe and Knightley Purefoy assigned to Morgan Randyll of Chilworth, Surrey, esquire, the residue of the said term of 99 years in the said premises in Coventry (except as before excepted) upon the trusts before recited, and after reciting that the said Anthony Eyre intermarried with the said Anne Hales (one of the daughters of Christopher Hales Senior), it was hereby witnessed that he the said Anthony Eyre had received of Sir John Halles, Knightley Purefoy and James Hales (the said Sir John Barnard being dead) the sum of 2000 marks, the Portion of the said Anne, and therefore acquitted and released the said Morgan Randyll, Nicholas Smythe, Knightley Purefoy and James Hales from all claims etc. in respect of the said Portion and maintenance, and from all his estate right or title in or to the said term of 99 years.
