Snitterfield deeds: Phillips of Welcombe
Description
Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated the 31st December 1765 between the Right Honourable George William, earl of Coventry of one part and Henry Smith of Snitterfield, gentleman of the other part whereby the said Earl conveyed parcels of ancient inclosed ground containing 5 acres, 2 roods and 8 perches situate in Snitterfield, also Ballards Close containing 1a-2r-23p and a messuage, tenement and orchard thereunto belonging in the occupation of Henry Ballard containing 2r-27p, also a parcel of the Common Fields containing 2r-28p in exchange for parcels of land in the Common Fields containing 6a-2r-25p, also a messuage then divided into yard land three tenements with blacksmith's shop thereunto adjoining in the several tenures of Fras. Richardson, Thomas Goode and John Hodgets, also a close thereto adjoining and belonging to the last mentioned premises containing 1a-0r-8p then in the occupation of the Reverend William Daniel, clerk conveyed by Hy Smith to the said Earl. Made in pursuance of the Inclosure Act of 5 George III. Signed: Henry Smith. Seal, a pelican crowned. Witnesses: William Bradford and William Welford. Lease dated 30th December 1765 for one year between the same parties of the same property. Signed, sealed and witnessed as in Release.
