Snitterfield deeds: Phillips of Welcombe
Description
Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated the 31st December 1765 between the Right Honourable George William, Earl of Coventry and Henry Smith of Snitterfield, gentleman whereby a piece of inclosed meadow called Greswolds Meadow containing 5 acres, 2 roods and 8 perches at Snitterfield, also a close called Ballards Close containing 1a-2r-23p and a messuage, tenement and orchard thereto belonging in the occupation of Henry Ballard containing 0a-2r-27p, and also a piece of land in the common fields containing 0a-2r-8p was granted by the Earl of Coventry to Henry Smith in consideration of or in exchange for a piece of land containing 6a-2r-25p in the common fields and a messuage then divided into three tenements with the blacksmith's shop then in the occupation of Francis Richardson, Thomas Goode and John Hodgets, also a close adjoining to the last in the occupation of the Reverend William Daniel Clerk. Signed: Coventry. Seal. Witnesses: George Lambe and Chas. Oakes. Lease dated 30th December 1765 by the Earl of Coventry to Henry Smith of the same property for one year.
