Description

Indentures of Lease and Release and Counterparts, the Release dated the 15th February 1810 between the Right Honourable George, Earl of Coventry of the 1st part, Thomas Graham of Lincoln's Inn, Middlesex, esquire of the 2nd part and William Bentham of Gower Street, Bedford Square, Middlesex, esquire of the 3rd part whereby the said Earl in execution of a power given to him by Indentures of Lease and Release, dated the 14th 15th November 1809 (see DR38/104-107) appointed that the hereditaments therein described should remain to the use of William Bentham and his heirs for ever subject to the proviso for redemption in consideration of £30,000 paid to the said Earl by William Bentham. And the said Thomas Graham in consideration of 10/- paid to him by the said William Bentham conveyed to the said William Bentham the property described in DR38/37, DR38/38, DR38/40 DR38/44-45 and in this Indenture except a tenement and garden and a piece of meadow ground thereto belonging containing 1 acre, 3 roods and 6 perches formerly called Widow Daddes, also a close of pasture called Aston Meadow in the occupation of George Thomas Wright containing 8a-1r-15p, also all manner of tithes payable to the said Earl in Snitterfield, and a coppice or wood lying in Bearley containing 42 acres, and also a close or meadow in Bearley in the occupation of William Horseman subject to a proviso for redemption. Signed Coventry and Thomas Graham. Seal, a man's head. Witnesses: Jona Holmes, George Kinderley and Edward Alderson of 6, Lincoln's Inn. And duplicate. Lease dated 14th February, Coventry to William Bentham of the same property for one year. Signed, sealed and witnessed as before. And duplicate. Bond dated 15th February 1810 Coventry to William Bentham for £30,000 to observe covenants of the Mortgage. Signed: Coventry. Seal of red wax, a cock mounted on a sheaf of corn, with a crown above. Witnessed as before.
