Description

Lease from William de Folwode the elder of Toneworth to William son of Robert de Folwode of the same of all oak trees, underwoods and all kinds of trees growing on a piece of land in Toneworth lying in length between two roads and the land and fishpond of the said lessor, the said lesse to have the right to cut and carry away the same from the date of this lease to the feast of St Michael the Archangel and one year next following. The said lessor agreed that from the date of this lease he would not give, fell or cut down any of the said trees without the assent of the lessee excepting 'hausbote' and 'haybote' which he could take at his pleasure. The said lessee for this grant was to pay annually a rent of 5 marks to the lessor during the life of the lessor, the first term to begin on the feast of the Annunciation of Our Lady next after the next feast of the Annunciation next after the date of this lease, the said rent to be void if the said lessor or his heirs gave , sold or cut down any of the said trees except for the said 'hausbote' and 'haybote'.
