Copy Probate of the Will and Codicil of Josiah Barrett of the Borough of Warwick liquor merchant whereby he devised and bequeathed unto his friends Joseph Barrett, shopkeeper, Walter Hill, draper and Richard Loveday, auctioneer, all of Warwick, all his real estate (except the estate at Newnham hereinafter devised to the Testator's brother, John Barrett) together with all personality upon trust to payment the rents and profits thereof to his only brother John Barrett for his life and thereafter to hold upon trust that part namely 'my estate at Claverdon called the Red Lion in the occupation of William Preston' unto his nephew Ebenezer Barrett for his life with remainder to his children equally and also to hold upon trust that part namely 'my land and premises at Radway in the occupation of George Shayler' for his nephew John Barrett for his life and remainder to his children equally and also to hold upon trust that part namely 'my house and lands near Claverdon in the occupation of Thomas Malins' for my nephew Samuel Barrett with remainder to his children. Bequests and legacies etc. Witnesses; James Vernour Fowler, Josiah Handley and Thomas Tidmas. Codicil to the above Will dated 27th March 1819. Reciting an Indenture of Lease dated 27th December 1810 between Ann Dawes, widow and the Testator whereby Ann Dawes demised unto the Testator and his Executors etc. 'all that warehouse etc. with vaults garden etc. situate near the top of the Saltisford Rock in the Parish of St. Mary, Warwick' from 20th September 1809 for a term of 21 years at a yearly rent of £20. Bequeathing the same term to his Executors upon trust to surrender the same as conveniently as might be. Directions to his brother John Barrett as to the purchase of Newnham Estate. Witnessed as before. Proved 30th October 1819.
