Description

Feoffment with warranty from John Gower to John [ Carpenter, 1444 - 1476] bishop of Worcester, Humphrey Stafford, Richard Ewen, rector of Clyve, John Salewey, William Salewey and Humphrey Gower all lands, tenements, meadows, woods, feedings, and pastures which the grantor held in the lordships of Solyhull' and Tonworth' called Sydenhalez and Smalesbrokes in the county of Warr' which he held through the quitclaim of his brother Robert Gower; to hold for ever from the chief lords of the fee for due and customary service upon the condition that the said feoffees re-enfeoffed the said John Gower and his heirs when they were asked to do so. Dated at Alvechurch', 4 January 34 Henry VI. Witnesses: Richard Fulwode, John Edmondes, Richard Kylcoppe, Alexander Beek', Richard Lee and others. Circular seal of red wax on tag, 1/2 in., a garb surrounded by a circle of plaited rushes.
