Snitterfield

Description

Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated 14th September 1835 between Luke Walton of Snitterfield yeoman of the 1st part, Samuel Walton of Sherlock Street, Birmingham porter of the 2nd part and Thomas Smith James of Birmingham gentleman of the 3rd part whereby a cottage or dwelling house in the occupation of Luke Walton in The Green, Snitterfield fronting to a ford rough (i.e. a lane between two farms) running out of the lane leading from Snitterfield to Wilmcote, bounded on the back thereof by land belonging to Richard Smith and on the sides thereof by houses respectively in the occupations of Zechariah Prentice and John Smith, the site of which cottage containing 72 square yards, also a piece of land, garden etc. in the occupation of Luke Walton situate in The Green fronting the said lane and bounded at the back thereof by the land of Richard Smith and on the sides thereof by gardens respectively in the occupations of William Scruby and Samuel Roberts which had contained 160 square yards was conveyed by Luke Walton to Samuel Walton in consideration of £19 and the signing of an agreement thereafter allowing the said Luke Walton to occupy the premises until his death. Signed by the mark of Luke Walton and by Samuel Walton. Common wax stamp seal. Witnessed by William Henry Griffin and Samuel Henry Corbett. Lease dated 12th September 1835 by Luke Walton to Samuel Walton of the same property for one year. Signed by the mark of Luke Walton. Sealed as before. Witnessed by Thomas Smith James, solicitor, Birmingham, William Henry Griffin, his clerk and Samuel Henry Corbett, clerk to Mr. Copper, solicitor, Birmingham. Memorandum dated 8th January 1841 that the garden containing 160 square yards was conveyed and the Deeds covenanted to be produced to William Scruby and his heirs etc. (see DR 38/734).
