Description

Indenture of Lease and Release, the Release dated 11th February 1774 between Samuel Cox of Langley, Claverdon gentleman, only son, heir residuary legatee and Executor of Samuel Cox late of Wolverton deceased of the 1st part, Susanna Canning of Kington Grange (widow of Richard Canning of the same place yeoman deceased and sister and heir at law of William Blick late of Norton Lindsey yeoman deceased) and William Canning of Kington Grange aforesaid yeoman (eldest son and heir of Richard Canning by the said Susanna) of the 2nd part, Mary Ancorne of Studley spinster of the 3rd part and George Wallington of Charlcote gentleman and Richard Tibbatts of Henley-in-Arden butcher of the 4th part. Reciting DR 38/794 to DR 38/801 and reciting that Richard Canning was then deceased and that Samuel Cox the elder was also deceased having by his Will dated 28th June 1760 given the residue of his personal estate to Samuel Cox the younger and Aaron Cox (since deceased) and appointed them Executors thereof and reciting that William Canning on the 13th day of January then last paid in full satisfaction of the Mortgage and interest £348 to Samuel Cox and reciting that a marriage was intended between William Canning and Mary Ancorne, it was witnessed that in consideration of the intended marriage and in consideration of £348 paid to Samuel Cox and in consideration of 5/- paid to Susanna Canning and William Canning by George Wallington and Richard Tibbatts, he the said Samuel Cox at the request and by the direction of Susanna Canning and William Canning, and also the said Susanna Canning and William Canning conveyed the premises described in DR 38/788 to George Wallington and Richard Tibbatts to the use of Susanna Canning for life and thereafter of William Canning until the solemnisation of the intended marriage, remainder to the use of Susanna Canning for life, remainder to the use of William Canning for life, remainder to the use of Mary Ancorne for life, remainder to the heirs of the body of William Canning and Mary Ancorne, remainder to the heirs of William Canning. Signed William Canning and Mary Ancorne. Seal, shield three elephants. Witnessed by Thomas Townsend and John Sanders. Lease dated 10th February 1774 for a year by Samuel Cox, Susanna Canning and William Canning to George Wallington and Richard Tibbatts of the same property. Signed Samuel Cox, William Canning and by the mark of Susanna Canning. Red wax seal, a man's head. Counterpart of the above Release. Signed George Wallington and Richard Tibbatts. Witnessed by L.
