Description

Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated 9th June 1693 between Henry Mason of Snitterfield yeoman of one part and John Tomboys of the same place clerk and Thomas Windmills the elder of Langley in the Parish of Claverdon yeoman of the other part reciting the intended marriage of Henry Mason and Mary Windmills, it was witnessed that in consideration of the intended marriage and of £30 paid by Thomas Windmills to Henry Mason as a marriage portion for the said Mary, he the said Henry Mason conveyed a messuage with appurtenances in Gallows Street, Bridge End, Warwick then in the occupation of Josiah Gardner and a messuage at Norton Lindsey with 2 lands or ridges then in the occupation of Jeremiah Elvins with appurtenances, to John Tomboys and Thomas Windmills to the use of Henry Mason until the solemnisation of the marriage, remainder to the use of Henry Mason for life, remainder to use of Mary Windmills for her life (if she survived) in lieu of dower, remainder to the use of the heirs of the body of Henry Mason begotten on the body of Mary Windmills, remainder to the use of the right heirs of Henry Mason. Signed by the mark of Henry Mason. Red wax seal, a fleur de lys. Witnesessed by John Horne, William Horne and Richard Smith. Lease dated 8th June 1693 for one year by Henry Mason to John Tomboys and Thomas Windmills of the same property. Signed, sealed and witnessed as before.
