Description

Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated 27th January 1748 between Sarah Cookes of Aston Cantlow widow of Thomas Cookes late of Billesley gentleman deceased, John Cookes of Billesley yeoman Sarah his wife and Nathaniel Cookes of Stratford-upon-Avon mercer (which said John and Nathaniel Cookes were two of the sons and devisees of Thomas Cookes deceased by Sarah Cookes his late wife, see DR 38/922) of one part and Thomas Walford of Wolverton gentleman of the other part whereby in consideration of 5/- paid to Sarah Cookes, of £100 paid to John Cookes and of £200 paid to Nathaniel Cookes by Thomas Walford, also in consideration of £200 paid to Mary Watson of Stratford-upon-Avon and of £200 paid to Stephen Burman of Shottery gentleman by the direction of Nathaniel Cookes for the assignment of a Mortgage thereinafter mentioned to be excepted and of £500 paid to Elizabeth Burman of Stratford-upon-Avon widow by direction of John Cookes for the assignment of another Mortgage thereinafter mentioned to be excepted, they the said Sarah Cookes, John Cookes Sarah his wife and Nathaniel Cookes granted to Thomas Walford the whole of the premises described in DR 38/926, and reciting DR 38/932, it was covenanted that such Fine should enure for the only use of Thomas Walford and his heirs for ever. Signed Sarah Cookes, John Cookes, Nathaniel Cookes and by the mark of Sarah Cookes. Witnessed by Thomas Cookes, John Nuckell, Sturch Walford and Mary Watson. Lease dated 26th January 1748 for one year by Sarah Cookes, John Cookes Sarah his wife and Nathaniel Cookes to Thomas Walford of the same property. Signed, sealed and witnessed as before.
