Description

Attested Copies of Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated 14th December 1738 between Richard Mills of Southwark, Surrey fellmonger and John Best citizen and barber surgeon of Lombard Street, London (devisees under the Will of Thomas Stanton late of Bermondsey gentleman deceased, see DR 38/1033) of one part and John Stanton of Longbridge gentleman of the other part reciting DR 38/1033 and that John Stanton had agreed to pay to Richard Mills and John Best £1200 being £800 and interest from the time of the said Will of Thomas Stanton, it was thereby witnessed that Richard Mills and John Best granted to John Stanton all the hereditaments described in DR 38/1033 (except the Advowson of Wolverton Church subject to the debts, legacies etc. left by the Will of Thomas Stanton which should not be met by the said sum of £1200. Witnessed by John Ellis and Richard Wright. Attested 15th April 1766 by Theobald Walford, clerk to William Hunt, and Thomas Cleaver. Lease dated 13th December 1738 for one year of the same property by Richard Mills and John Best to John Stanton. Witnessed and attested as before.
