Description

Quitclaim from John son of Robert Archer to John son of William Archer of all his messuage with appurtenances lying between the demesne land of the Countess called Bikerescote, descending as far as the park (vivarium) and the road leading from the mill of Taneworth', next to the lands which Thomas son of Roger the reeve and William de Lee held of the grantor, together with all services, reliefs and escheats pertaining thereto; to hold the same rendering annually customary service to the chief lord, namely 12 barbed arrows and two capons at Pentecost; and for this John the grantee gives 10 marks. Witnesses: Sir John Durvassal, Robert Chandos, William de Edricheston', Henry de Lee, Richard the servant, Roger Durvassal, Walter the clerk, Roger Pavie, Thomas de Notehurst clerk and others. Fragment of circular, white seal on tag, defaced. Endorsed: i) Carta Johannis filii Willelmi Archer facta per Johannem filium Roberti le Archer de mesuagio iii croftis terre etc. iuxta Bikerescrofte, reddendo inde per annum xii sagittas ii capones ad Pentecost. ii) copied [SA] Latin, parchment, 71/2 x 41/4 ins.
