Description

Counterpart of lease for 8 years with warranty from John Archer' esquire to John Asshell' and Thomas Braundon' of a parcel of land in Toneworth' called Wheteedish', extending in length from Shepcotegrove and Apultone towards the south to hold for 8 years from the feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary [2 February] for the annual rent of 8 shillings at the two annual terms of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist [altered from Lady Day] and St. Michael Archangel; the said lessees to have sufficient heybot to make a close hedge there during the said term. Dated at Toneworth', 17 Edward IV. Witnesses: Henry Chambur, John Smyth', Thomas Wole and others. 1. Octagonal seal of red wax on tag, 1/2 in., the letter I crowned between two arrows pointing downwards. 2. Circular seal of red wax on tag, 1/2 in., the letter B Latin, parchment, 83/4 x 31/2 in., indented.
