Description

Arbitration award by William Herewell' and Nicholas Broun' in a dispute between John Archer of Tonworthe esquire and William Lee of Wantynge, yeoman, concerning a messuage and a toft, 60 acres of land, 10 acres of meadow, 200 acres of pasture and 200 acres of wood in the lordship of Tonworthe called le Lee, the said parties being bound by bond dated 20 April 2 Richard III [1485] in the sum of £40 to perform the same: the said arbitrators ordered that the said William Lee should beford the Witson next release the said property to the said John Archer together with all deeds relating to the same and make all necessary assurances of the same at the cost of the said John Archer; the said John Archer was to pay the said William Lee 19 marks, of which 4 marks was to be paid on Sunday next after this date, 5 marks on the following Michaelmas or within one month, 5 marks at the following Michaelmas or within one month; for this £10 over and above the said 4 marks received at this date William Reynold' of Henley and John Pratte of the same town were to be bound to the said William Lee and were to receive their bonds again when payment had been made as receipt for the same.
