Description

Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated 2nd November 1768 between John Cooper of the Parish of St. Mary Matfellon [Magdalen] alias White Chapel, Middlesex gentleman (eldest son and heir of John Cooper late of Spittlefields, London weaver deceased, who was the eldest son and heir and also devisee named in the Will of Edward Cooper late of the Pelham Street, Spittlefields in the Parish of St. Dunstan, Stepney, Middlesex) of the 1st part, John Payton of Stratford-upon-Avon innholder of the 2nd part and Robert Pardoe of Lincoln's Inn, mid gentleman of the 3rd part whereby John Cooper in consideration of £1000 to him paid by John Payton conveyed to John Payton the property referred to in DR 38/1202 DR 38/1207 and to the intent that a Common Recovery might be suffered of the premises, it was agreed by John Cooper and John Payton that Robert Pardoe should demand against the said John Payton the said premises in the Court of Common Pleas, and that such Recovery should enure to the benefit of John Payton. Signed John Cooper and Robert Pardoe. Seal, a swan. Witnessed by John Hopley, William Clark and William Fletcher. Lease dated 1st November 1768 for one year by John Cooper to John Payton of the same property. Signed John Cooper. Sealed as before. Witnessed by John Hopley and William Clark.
