Description

Attested Copies of the Will and Codicil of the Reverend Francis Gastrell of Overton in the Parish of Frodsham, Cheshire clerk and Vicar of Frodsham aforesaid who by his Will dated 2nd October 1768 after reciting that by virtue of his Marriage Articles dated 19th May 1752 he was entitled to receive £8000 out of his wife's fortune and other sums out of the residue thereof which he had laid out, inter alia, in the purchase of hereditaments in Hampton Lucy and Stratford-upon-Avon, he devised to his wife Jane, inter alia, the premises situate at Hampton Lucy and in the Parish and Borough of Stratford-upon-Avon. He also bequeathed to his brother Edward Peregrine Gastrell £100, to his said brother's son Edward and Daughter Frances £500 each and to his niece Elizabeth Ford £500 if she should survive him and he bequeathed all the residue of his personal estate to Jane Gastrell whom he appointed his sole Executrix. Witnessed by John Earl, John Redish and Enoch Davis. Attested 3rd April 1793 by William Oakey junior and Francis Sharratt. And by the Codicil thereto dated 27th March 1772 the Testator revoked the legacy of £500 bequeathed to his niece Frances, and bequeathed the same to Peter Brooke of Mere, Cheshire esquire and George Ravenscroft of Wrexham, Denbighshire esquire in trust for Frances his niece for her separate use during Coverture. Witnessed by Peter Garrick, William Baillye and Richard Green. Attested 14th April by John Whitmore and Matthew Marshall.
