Old Stratford

Description

Attested Copy Indenture of Covenant between George Lloyd of Welcombe Lodge esquire of one part and Roger Vaughten of Hampstead Park in the Parish of Handsworth, Staffordshire esquire of the other part reciting DR 38/1188 and that Roger Vaughton had purchased from the devisees of Jane Gastrell the inheritance of divers hereditaments in Old Stratford in the occupation of Thomas Halford containing 82 acres and that it had been agreed at the time of purchase that the annual sum of 16/- the residue of £2 payable for Privy Tithes should be charged thereon, it was thereby witnessed that Roger Vaughton and George Lloyd covenanted with each other, by reciprocal covenants, to pay the proportions of the annual payment of £2 for Privy Tithes of lands respectively purchased by them in the proportion of 24/- by George Lloyd and 16/- by Roger Vaughton, and to indemnify each other for any liability to pay more than the sum agreed upon. Witnessed by Thomas Bird, Thomas B. Nott, clerk to Mr. Bird Worcester, William Oakey junior and Francis Sharrett. Attested 28th October 1845 by Robert Watts and Robert Humphreys, clerks to Mr. Fry law stationer, South Square, Gray's Inn.
