Temple Grafton, Welcombe Hampton Lucy

Description

Indenture of Release (Lease missing) made between John Newman of Alvechurch, Worcestershire gentleman and Elizabeth his wife (one of the two daughters and devisees named in the Will of John Plestoe late of Markcleeve [Marlcliff], Bidford gentleman and also one of the two daughters and only surviving issue of John Plestoe by Joan his wife whose maiden name was Joan Ashcombe) of the 1st part, Mary Joson of Shipston-on-Stour widow the other daughter and devisee of John Plestoe which said Mary Johnson and Elizabeth Newman were the only two daughters and surviving issue in tail of John Palstoe and Joan his wife (both deceased) of the 2nd part, Thomas Green of Cofton Hackett, Worcestershire yeoman of the 3rd part and Thomas Brettell of Stourbridge, Worcestershire gentleman of the 4th part. Reciting that John Newman and Mary Johnson were seised in tail general of the hereditaments thereinafter described in Temple Grafton and were seised in fee simple of hereditaments thereinafter described in Hampton Lucy and Welcombe as devisees of John Plestoe and that John Newman, Elizabeth his wife and Mary Johnson had agreed upon a partition of the said hereditaments, it was thereby witnessed that John Newman and Elizabeth his wife and Mary Johnson in pursuance of the said agreement and in consideration of £60 paid by John Newman to Mary Johnson and in consideration to each of them paid by Thomas Green, granted to Thomas Green a messuage and farm lands called Freckleton's Farm situate in Temple Grafton and three closes with appurtenances to the said messuage belonging and called Freckleton, Lady Moor and the Sidles in Temple Grafton in the tenure of Charles Biddle and Robert Wigham also three closes of arable meadow and pasture called Frame Closes or Welcombe Ground with barn and stable thereon situate in Hampton Lucy formerly in the occupation of Frances Plestoe and William Plestoe and afterwards of Joan Plestoe and then of Samuel Smith to hold the hereditaments in Temple Grafton to the use of John Newman and John Brettell and the heirs of John Newman for ever and to hold the hereditaments at Welcombe and Hampton Lucy to the use of Mary Johnson and her heirs for ever. And the said John Newman, Elizabeth his wife and Mary Johnson covenanted with Thomas Green to levy a fine of the premises to him Thomas Green to enure as to and concerning the premises at Temple Grafton to the use of John Newman and John Brettell and the heirs of John Newman for ever and as to and concerning the premises at Welcombe and Hampton Lucy to the use of Mary Johnson and her heirs for ever.
