Old Stratford

Description

Attested Copy Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated 14th December 1837 between Jeffery Bevington Lowe of Ettington gentleman and Robert Bell Wheler of Stratford-upon-Avon gentleman of the 1st part, Charles Thomas Warde of Welcombe esquire of the 2nd part and the Reverend Thomas Warde of Leamington Priors clerk of the 3rd part. Reciting DR38/1451 and that John Lord died on 14th April 1827 and that Ann Lord died on 16th March 1829 and that Elizabeth Davenport Hobbes died in June 1825 leaving several children, the youngest of whom, Harriet Walford Hobbes attained 21 years of age on the 10th January 1837 and reciting that John Whitehead died in May 1829 and that Jeffery Bevington Lowe and Robert Bell Wheler were surviving devisees in trust under the Will of John Lord, it was thereby witnessed that Jeffery Bevington Lowe and Robert Bell Wheler in consideration of £4300 to them paid by Charles Thomas Warde and in consideration of 5/- to them paid by Thomas Warde conveyed to Thomas Warde several pieces of meadow in Old Stratford called Rowley Grounds fronting the Warwick to Stratford-upon-Avon road containing 28 acres, 2 roods and 24 perches together with a cottage thereon to the use of Charles Thomas Warde for life, remainder to Thomas Warde, remainder to Charles Thomas Warde and his heirs for ever. Witnessed by William Wynne, clerk to Mr. Hobbes, Robert H. Hobbes and John Freeman of Long Buckby. Lease dated 13th December 1837 for one year by Jeffery Bevington Lowe and Robert Bell Wheler to Thomas Warde of the same premises. Witnessed as before. Attested 27th October 1845 by Robert Watts and Robert Humphreys, clerks to Mr. Fry law stationer, London.
