Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated 29th September 1804 between John Josselyn the younger of Belstead Parsonage, Suffolk esquire William Mayrick of Red Lion Square, Middlesex esquire of the 1st part, Alexander de Vandes (commonly called Count de Vandes) late of Cork Street, Piccadilly, Middlesex but then of Brooke Street, Grosvenor Square, Middlesex Elizabeth his wife (who before her marriage with the said Alexander Vandes was Elizabeth Wright widow of John Wright late of Hatfield Priory, Essex esquire deceased) of the 2nd part, William Harding late of Hampton Lucy but then of Alveston esquire of the 3rd part, Edmund Battersbee of Stratford-upon-Avon esquire Thomas Hunt of Stratford-upon-Avon gentleman of the 4th part, William Preest of Fillongley gentleman Joseph Harding of Solihull gentleman (Assignees under a Commission in Bankruptcy issued against Chief rents Henry Hunt late of Stratford-upon-Avon banker) of the 5th part, John Roberts of Blockley, Worcestershire gentleman, William Phillips of Broadway, Worcestershire gentleman John Marshall of Snowshill, Gloucestershire gentleman (Assignees under a Commission in Bankruptcy awarded against Edward John Horseman both of Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire bankers) of the 6th part and Charles Mills of Mansfield Street, Marylebone, Middlesex esquire and banker of the 7th part. Reciting an Indenture dated 28th April 1792 between Charles Henry Hunt of one part and the said John Wright deceased of the other part whereby the said Charles Henry Hunt demised a term of 1000 years to John Wright in his Manor of Wolverton and all his hereditaments therein subject to an annuity payable thereout to Catherine Hunt widow the mother of Chief rents Henry Hunt subject to a proviso for redemption upon payment by Charles Henry Hunt of £4000 and reciting that John Wright died since the execution of his Will dated 28th April 1795 (see DR38/1076) and that his said Will had been duly proved by Elizabeth Wright and reciting an Indenture dated 29th August 1800 endorsed upon the above recited Indenture dated 28th April 1792 between Elizabeth Wright widow of the 1st part, Alexander de Vandes of the 2nd part and John Josselyn William Mayrick of the 3rd part and that a marriage had been agreed upon between the said Alexander de Vandes and Elizabeth Wright and that £4000 should be settled by Elizabeth Wright upon the trust of the Marriage Settlement, it was thereby witnessed that Elizabeth Wright assigned to John Josselyn and William Mayrick (Trustees of the Settlement) the sum of £4000 secured as aforesaid and reciting DR38/1077 and reciting Indentures dated 28th February and 1st March 1796 between Charles Henry Hunt of one part and Edward Horseman Edmund Battersbee of the other part whereby Charles Henry Hunt mortgaged his hereditaments in Wootton Wawen, Tanworth and Stratford-upon-Avon to Edward Horseman and Edmund Battersbee for £10,000 and reciting other Indentures dated 3rd 4th July 1797 made between Charles Henry Hunt of one part and Edward Horseman, Edmund Battersbee, John Horseman and Thomas Hunt of the other part after reciting that in addition to the said sum of £10,000 owed by Charles Henry Hunt to Edward Horseman and Edmund Battersbee a further sum of £6000 was owing to them and others upon Bills, promissory notes etc. by the said Charles Henry Hunt, it was witnessed that Charles Henry Hunt in consideration of £16,000 and other considerations therein mentioned conveyed to Edward Horseman, Edmund Battersbee, John Horseman and Thomas Hunt all the hereditaments thereafter mentioned and reciting DR38/1079 and reciting an Indenture dated 11th August 1800 between Richard Gresley esquire, Mathew Payne the elder William Payne gentleman of one part and John Morgan of Sambourne gentleman, William Preest of Fillongley gentleman Joseph Harding of Solihull gentleman of the other part reciting the Commission in Bankruptcy issued against Charles Henry Hunt directed to the said Richard Gresley, Matthew Payne the elder, William Payne, Joseph Lavender esquire and John Byrkin Bellamy gentleman (to act as Commissioners, giving the majority of them power to execute conveyances etc.) and reciting that after a meeting of creditors of the said Charles Henry Hunt at the White Bear, Coventry the said John Morgan, William Preest and Joseph Harding were chosen Assignees in Bankruptcy of the said Charles Henry Hunt and that the Commissioners in Bankruptcy found that the said Charles Henry Hunt was seised of hereditaments in Goldicote, Worcestershire, Stratford-upon-Avon, Old Stratford, Loxley, Bishopton, Tanworth, Wootton Wawen and Wolverton subject to certain Mortgages and terms of years and reciting DR38/1080 and that at a sale by auction of the said real estate of Charles Henry Hunt, Charles Mills was the highest bidder of the hereditaments at Wolverton for £3164, it was thereby witnessed that in consideration of £3164 paid to John Josselyn and William Mayrick by the said Charles Mills (in satisfaction of the recited mortgage) assigned and released to Charles Mills the said term of 1000 years in the property described in DR38/1052 DR38/1071 and William Harding, Edmund Battersbee, Thomas Hunt, William Preest, Joseph Harding, Joseph Roberts, William Phillips and John Marshall conveyed the property described in DR38/1052 DR38/1071 to Charles Mills and all the other messuages of William Hunt (father of Charles Henry hunt) in Wolverton. Amos of Gray's Inn and Charles Davies, servant to Count de Vandes. Lease dated 28th September 1804 for one year of the same property by William Harding and others to Charles Mills.
