Description

Exchange between Andrew Archer of Umberslade Hall, Tanworth, esquire, and John Doley of Solihull, gentleman, of a little close of land containing about one acre called the Motyard, late in the tenure of John Hunter, gentleman and now of the said John Doley, between the land of Joseph Cottrell in the tenure of John Daws lying on the west side, the land of Thomas Bucknall in the tenure of Richard Cole, innholder, lying on the north side, a house and garden belonging to the parish of Solihull on the east side and the street leading from the school-house to the cross in Solihull on the south side; for a parcel of freehold land containing one acre, being part of a certain meadow of the said John Doley called Great meadow belonging to a farm called Shelley farm, lying in Solihull, now to be divided from the said meadow called Great meadow by a quickset hedge and mound, now or late in the tenure of Samuel Smith adjoining or near to other lands of the said John Doley and Andrew Archer on all sides; the said Andrew agreed to set up sufficient posts and rails 20 feet long and 12 feet broad if necessary in the brook dividing the land between the said Andrew and the said John for a watering place for the cattle of the said John and to maintain the same for ever; the said John agreed not to dig or cast up any ditches or trenches to divert the water coming to the floodgates, erected or hereafter erected on the said piece of meadow ground; to hold for ever.
