From Emily Hodgson, Sydney, to Frank Hodgson They have not received a letter from him as it has gone to Brisbane but have heard from the Knoxs that he is alright. Lilly is at school and is to spend her June holidays with friends. Percy is still at Miss Hall's and is well and happy. Aunt Kate was here to say goodbye. Eliza Spencer is to marry Mr Whally, he is very well off.She has just lost her sister who has left 8 children. She speaks of the attempted assasination of the Duke of Edinburgh, of his recovery and of the social events which followed it. He departed on the HMS Galatea, she and her Mother went to watch. Father has taken the house in Brisbane for six months, then he talks of returning to Europe which pleases Emily. Everyone has been very kind and they have had a great deal of gaiety. There is a note from Arthur Hodgsonin which he says that he will write by the Panama Mail.
