Hodgson of Clopton House: Correspondence and diary notes

Description

From Eliza Hodgson, Montpellier, Brisbane to Frank Hodgson. She has been thinking of Frank a lot because she has been reading a book about a young man's career at college. She is worried about the temptations at Cambridge. She compares a young man's life in Australia with that at home. Harry Littleton has taken to life driving sheep etc. very well. She is unsettled in her mind because Papa cannot decide what to do about returning home. He dreads having no occupation. It is a very dull place for Emily and she finds her difficult to manage as she has 'a great opinion of her own intellect' but gets very little attention because she is not handsome. Emma Isaacs is really married.
