Hodgson of Clopton House: Correspondence and diary notes

Description

From Emily Hodgson (Lilly), 22 Via Felice to Frank Hodgson They hope to have Papa back tomorrow, it seems such an age since he went away. She speaks again of the society there and the occasions that they have attended. Mrs leckies party was good fun. They had dancing and good music. The Carnival has been very stupid. The past two days masks were allowed. There are no nice gentlemen there and she has not seen one that she would like to see again. She is sorry that Clopton is so large. Mama is worried that it will be too much for her They have not seen much of Rome so far, the weather and gaieties interfering.
