Copy of the will of William Shakespeare of Stratford-upon-Avon, gent, whereby after making certain bequests not affecting his real estate, testator devised to his sister Johane Hart the house with appurtenances in Stratford wherein she dwelleth, for her natural life, under the yearly rent of twelve pence and testator devised to his daughter Susanna Hall his capital messuage with appurtenances called New Place in which he then dwelt and two messuages with appurtenances in Henley Street, also all of his other hereditaments in the towns, hamlets, villages and fields of Stratford-upon-Avon, Old Stratford, Bishopton and Welcombe and also his messuage in Blackfriars, London near the Wardrobe wherein one John Robinson then dwelt and all his hereditaments, for her life with remainders over to the first and other sons of the said Susanna successively in tail made and in default of such issue to his niece Hall in tail male and in default of other male issue to his daughter Judith in tail male; remainder in default first issue to the right heirs of him Wm. Shakespeare and appointed his son in law John Hall, gent and Susanna his wife executors. Executed by the testator and attended by Fra. Collins, Julius Shawe, John Robinson, Hamnet Sadler and Robt. Whatcott. Testator died the 23rd April 1616. Proved by John Hall in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury the 22nd June 1616 4 Folios.
