Covenant to levy a fine: Shakespeare's Birthplace, New Place, and other property in Stratford-upon-Avon and London

Indenture of Covenant by Susannah Hall of Stratford-upon-Avon widow, Thomas Nash of same place Esq. and Elizabeth his wife to levy a fine to George Nash of Southwark, Surrey and Edmund Rawlins of Stratford-upon-Avon, gents, of a messuage in Blackfriars, London near the Wardrobe; a messuage in Acton, Co. Middlesex; a capital messuage in Stratford-upon-Avon called the New Place; two messuages in Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon in the tenure of Jane Hiccox and Johan Harte, widows; and four and a half yard lands in the common fields of Stratford-upon-Avon, Old Stratford, Bishopton and Welcombe and all other hereditaments in the same theretofore the inheritance of William Shakespeare, father of the said Susan, to the intent that they should be tenants in an action for Recovery wherein it was agreed that George Townsend and John Stephens both of Staple Inn, Middlesex, gents, should be Demandants and the said Susannah, Thomas and Elizabeth, Vouchees, which Recovery should ensure as to the premises in Acton to the use of Thomas Nash and Elizabeth for their joint lives and the life of the survivor with remainder to the heirs of the bodies of Thomas and Elizabeth between them lawfully begotten, with remainder to the right heirs of Thomas Nash and as to the residue of the premises to the use of Susannah for life with remainders over as above. Signed Sealed and delivered by George Nash, Edward Rawlins, George Townsend and John Stephens in presence of Hugh Meades (by his mark) Antho. Wither, Tho. Lloyd and Thomas Kerbe and by Susannah Hall in the presence of Hugh Meads (by his mark) Thomas Brode and Thomas Kerbe. Endorsed the deed of the house at London, New Place and Lands at Stratford. To Wm. George Nash, Wm. Rawlings and other Feoffees.
