John Shakespeare, on threat of distraint of his goods, is ordered to appear at the next session of Stratford’s court of record, as surety for Richard Hathaway. "Stratford Burgus.--Preceptum est servientibus ad clavam quod distringatis, seu unus vestrum distringat, Johannem Shakespere per omnia bona et cattalla sua, ita quod sit apud proximam Curiam de Recordo tentam ibidem ad respondendum Johanne Pagge de placito debiti, c. Datum sub sigillo meo xj. mo die Septembris anno regni domine Elizabethe Dei gracia Anglie Francie et Hibernie regina fidei defensoris, etc. octavo.--Henricus Hygford senescallus"
