Description

Shakespeare inclined to purchase land at Shottery, discontent on account of the high price of corn, deputations to Sir Thomas Lucy and others, agitation against the maltsters, means to relieve the town of taxes and subsidies, the great bell broken, on Mr. Burton's suit.., 24 January, 1597/8. [There is no address to this letter, but that it is to Quiney may be gathered by comparing this document to BRU/15/1/136].
