'A brief Hand-List of the Wheler Collection'

Description

An annotated volume, signed by Miss Wheler entitled:

'A brief Hand-List of the Collections Respecting the Life and Works of Shakespeare, and the History and Antiquities of Stratford-upon-Avon, formed by the Late Robert Bell Wheler, the Historian of Stratford, and Presented by his Sister, Miss Wheler, to that Town, to be Preserved for ever in the Shakespeare Library and Museum'.

The volume contains a Preface by J.O. Halliwell, dated 18/03/1863. The Wheler Collection is then documented - items 1 - 114 being typescript and items 115 - 129.
The final entry is a declaration by Anne Wheler concerning the presentation of the Wheler Collection to the Shakespeare Museum at Stratford-upon-Avon, witnessed by W. O. Hunt, Town Clerk.

This item is one of one hundred copies printed at the Chiswick Press, London 1863.
The front cover is marked in ink as 'Signed by Miss Wheler' and also in pencil '216'. It is stamped 'The Shakespeare Museum, Stratford-upon-Avon'
