Description

Probate of the Will of John Rowney of Armscott in the parish of Tredington, yeoman, whereby he bequeathed to the poor of Tredington £5; to his daughter Alice Gibbard £5 a year for her life; to Anne Rowney his daughter-in-law £5 a year for her life; to Alice Tustian, his sister £1 a year for her life; to Thomas Rowney his son £5 to be paid within one year of his death; to Anne wife of the said Thomas £1 to be paid within one year of his death; to Ann Dodson, his daughter £1 to be paid within one year of his death; to Dorothy Banbury his daughter, £1 to be paid as before; to Joan Radish, late wife of John Rowney his son, £1 to be paid as before; to Sarah Rowney his grand-daughter, £10 to be paid to her at 21 years; to Thomas Banbury, his grandson, his best suit of wearing apparel; to Robert Rowney his grandson £120 to be paid to him at 18 years and to have his keeping in the house until that age; to the rest of his grandchildren five shillings each; and the residue of his personal estate to John Rowney his grandson (son of his son Robert) whom he appointed to be his sole executor; and he bequeathed five shillings to his cousin Bonner. Witnesses: Robert Halford, Honias Bennett and Arthur Eden. Proved by Anne Rowney, mother of the said John Rowney junior, a minor, 8 October 1673.
