Counterpart of an indenture of mortgage dated 25 April 1738, between John Bird of Coventry, esq., of the one part and Sir Thomas Lombe, Knight and Alderman of London of the other part, whereby John Bird, in consideration of £3,000 to him paid by Sir Thomas Lombe, granted to Sir Thomas Lombe hereditaments in Threadneedle Street, being the corner house on the east side of a passage heretofore called the Sweetings leading from Threadneedle Street to Cornhill, London; messuages in the Sweetings aforesaid, a messuage near the Royal Exchange, hereditaments in Hayes, co. Middx., Halloughton in the parish of Kingsbury, Nether Whitacre, Kenilworth and Coventry, subject to a proviso for redemption on repayment of £3,000 to the said Sir Thomas Lombe. Memorandum, dated 18 September 1751, that John Bird sold all the hereditaments in London to Thomas Dumford, citizen and pin-maker of London and out of the proceeds of sale paid off £2,000 of the above mortgage then remaining due to Mrs. Sarah Complin and Mr. Thomas Trott in trust for whom the mortgage had been assigned.
