Lease: Sherbourne

Description

Lease dated 14 March 1729/30 (Old style) [1730], from John Burgoyne, esq., Lord of the Manor of Sherborn [Sherbourne] to William Hawkes of Sherborn, yeoman, of a messuage called Hane Hall and lands in Sherborn, with the exception of the timber rights, in the occupation of Joseph Smith, tenant of the said John Burgoyne. The said William Hawkes to maintain the said messuage and lands in good condition and repair, and pay all taxes excepting the land tax. To hold to the said William from the 25 March 1730 for six years. Rent £66 and £5 for every acre of pasture land converted to tillage. Signed and sealed by John Burgoyne.
