Assignment of Land: Aston-upon-Carrant and Ashchurch
Description
Indenture whereby Sarah Jeynes of Tewkesbury, co. Glouc., widow, daughter and administratrix of all goods, etc. of John Edwards, late of Ashchurch, co. Glouc., yeoman, not administered by John Edwards, his son, also deceased, assigns to John Goodman of Aston-upon-Carrant in Ashchurch, yeoman, for £120, 14 acres of arable land, one acre of meadow, etc. in Aston and Ashchurch (adjoining lands of Charles Vincent, esq. William Kent, Thomas Jordan, John Surman, William Dowdeswell, etc.) at a yearly rent of 3d; which lands, inter alia, were leased by Richard Wakeman, gent., 14 February 32 Elizabeth [1590] to Thomas Goodman, husbandman, for 1000 years and were assigned by Thomas Goodman, 2 October 11 James I [1613] to John Edwards the elder, and granted by the last-named by his Will dated 20 September 1664 to John Edwards his son, administration of whose estates, on his dying intestate, was granted to the said Sarah Jeynes, 19 February 1675/6 (Old style) [1676]. Witnesses: Edward Bulstrode, Thomas Jeynes, Philip Surman and John Skliser.
