Attested Copy of Lease: Shipston-on-Stour

Description

Attested copy of lease from John Banks Jenkinson D D, Dean of the Cathedral Church of Worcester and the Chapter of the same Church, to Francis Findon of Shipston-upon-Stower, gent., of a messuage with Blacksmiths shop near a place called the Bury in Shipston-upon-Stour in the tenure of William Hands, blacksmith. Also three small cottages with brewhouses and appurtenances also near the Bury and the Shambles in the occupation of Samuel White, printer, Joseph Baldwin, tailor and John Worrall, glazier, all of which property was formerly in the successive occupation of David Cooper the elder, David Cooper the younger, Francis Gunn, Anthony Mumford and William Merrill. Also all toll and tollage in the town and fields of Shipston, and groundage, pickage and portage together with all other profits of markets and fairs as formerly leased to Gore Townsend, esq. To hold for 21 years rendering annually six bushels of good clean sweet barley well winnowed at the rate of nine gallons a bushel, or money for the same within twopence per bushel of the price of the best barley sold in Worcester market and also the annual sum of £4 14s. 10d., also such services as pertain to the Manor of Shipston.
